SUMMARY:General Meeting - Fall 2025
DESCRIPTION:Our next general member meeting is scheduled for September 7. We will have refreshments starting at 2 PM\, followed by a local history speaker\, and then our business meeting. \nDr. Adrienne Perry \n \nOur guest speaker will be Dr. Adrienne Perry\, the former mayor of Longwood and congressional candidate. She and her husband\, Justice James E. C. Perry\, have lived in Longwood since the mid-1970s. She was an educator and the first black mayor in Seminole County history. \nBy-Laws Changes \nAt the last meeting\, we introduced proposed changes to the bylaws. We will vote on those changes at this meeting. He will reprise an abbreviated version of that presentation for us. It will discuss the business and bosses of organized crime in Central Florida\, focusing on the 1950s through the 1970s. \n  \n \nLewis House News \nWe are discussing ways to save this house with the City of Longwood. We are exploring restoration options\, costs\, and potential locations within the historic/Reiter Park district to give it a permanent home and community function. Find out more at the meeting. \n \nProposed By-Laws \nYes\, I know by-laws are boring\, but they’re also necessary! At the last meeting\, we introduced the proposed new by-laws. We will call for a motion to approve them at this meeting. They will help modernize our governing document. The committee worked hard on simplification\, updates\, and removing antiquated parts. Read the document… \n \nMonster Dash Aims for Big $$ \nWe have some big goals ahead of us\, and the Monster Dash 5K is our largest fundraiser of the year. Our team has been working hard to make it the best ever. We think it’s going to be a record year for participants and sponsors.
