East Self-Guided Walking Tour

Stops:

  • A = Former Location of Longwood Train Depot
    Start between the railroad tracks and the commercial block and picture the ramp of the old wooden train station.
  • B = Henck/Tinker Building
    Along the highway is the business block on the southeast side of the intersection of Church Ave and Ronald Reagan Blvd.
  • C = Old Post Office Building
    Across Church Ave on the eastern side of the block, the small one-story section is the former post office.
  • D = Payne Building
    Connected to the post office, the two-story section was added by the Payne family in 1920. They lived on the second floor.
  • E = Clock Tower Park
    Carefully cross the highway, the northwest to the northwest corner of the intersection.
  • F = Tucker House
    Walk north and then take a short jaunt down Jessup Avenue.
  • G = Jackson House
    Head back toward the main road and then head north, cross Florida Ave and then a short sidewalk leads you to Freeman St.
  • H = Entzminger Garage Apartment
    Just a hundred feet down Magnolia Ave, we find our next stop on the left.
  • I = Old Dixie Highway
    Return to Freeman St and then look down to the middle cut-out section of the road at your feet.
  • J = Fitch House
    The northwest corner of Magnolia and Freeman we find our next stop.
  • K = Henck House
    The next house up Freeman is the house of the town’s founder.
  • L = McGaughey House
    Continue north to the intersection of Freeman and Palmetto, you’ll find our next stop on the north side of that intersection.
  • M = Florida Midland Railroad
    Return back south the way you came, but this time stop and notice Florida Avenue heading west from the highway.
